Responsibilities
- Verify and authenticate patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services.
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Prepare and submit claims to various insurance carriers (commercial, Medicaid, Medicare) via electronic clearinghouses.
- Review denied or rejected claims and troubleshoot to ensure timely payment.
- Maintain accurate patient records and billing files in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and generate monthly financial reports.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data entry.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and computer navigation.
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is highly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
