Austin Family Health Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Night Shift Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team in Austin, TX. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional patient care and are looking for a reliable professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in our after-hours operations, ensuring our patients receive the highest standard of care during the night shift. You will work closely with our nursing and medical staff to maintain continuity of care and improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Patient Intake: Verify patient information, update medical records, and prepare patients for examinations by night shift providers.
- Vitals and Assessment: Accurately measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations) and report any abnormalities to the charge nurse.
- Assist with Procedures: Provide support during minor procedures and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Medication Management: Assist with medication preparation and administration under the direct supervision of a licensed provider.
- Lab Work: Perform point-of-care testing (POCT) and assist with phlebotomy as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and legible electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Environment: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with current CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT) certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a patient-centric approach.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) is a plus.
- Availability: Must be available to work rotating night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
