Responsibilities
- Patient Intake: Greet patients warmly, verify personal and insurance information, and update medical records accurately.
- Vital Signs: Measure and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, weight, height, temperature, pulse) and report any abnormalities to the provider.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations by preparing instruments and medications.
- Procedural Assistance: Perform venipuncture for blood draws and point-of-care testing as required by the scope of practice.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage the front desk duties including scheduling appointments, answering phones, and processing referrals.
- Medication Management: Prepare and administer medications under the direct supervision of a licensed provider.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must possess a current CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT) certification from an accredited institution.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- License: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
