Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Accurately submit and follow up on medical claims (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) to insurance payers.
- Patient Billing: Generate and send patient invoices, collect payments, and manage payment plans.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services rendered.
- Denial Management: Analyze denied claims, identify root causes, and resubmit appeals to maximize revenue.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) and billing logs.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing questions and insurance issues.
- Compliance: Ensure all billing practices adhere to HIPAA regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification: CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CBCS (Certified Billing and Coding Specialist) is highly desired.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and ensure accuracy in data entry.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance companies.
- Reliability: Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a part-time capacity.
