Responsibilities
- Verify and validate patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services.
- Accurately complete and submit medical claims using CMS-1500 forms and electronic transmission.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements and resolve any billing discrepancies.
- Communicate with patients regarding their financial obligations and payment plans.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC, CPC-H, or CEMC preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficient in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or NextGen.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
