Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collection following strict protocols
- Process, label, and transport specimens to the laboratory with chain-of-custody documentation
- Maintain sterile techniques and infection control standards throughout procedures
- Verify patient identity and prepare collection materials efficiently
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation and post-collection care
- Utilize LIS systems for accurate specimen tracking and result reporting
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure seamless patient workflow
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in venipuncture
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Proficiency in medical terminology and specimen handling
- Exceptional communication skills for diverse patient populations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Attention to detail with zero tolerance for errors
- Availability to work flexible shifts including weekends
