Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages, ensuring comfort and accuracy.
- Verify patient identities and accurately label specimens to ensure proper chain of custody.
- Adhere strictly to HIPAA privacy regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Calmingly communicate with patients to explain procedures and manage anxiety.
- Maintain and sterilize all phlebotomy equipment and workstations in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Enter patient data and specimen details accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Assist in inventory management of blood collection supplies and kits.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required.
- Current California State Phlebotomy License.
- Previous experience in a clinical or laboratory setting is preferred.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs when necessary.
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
