Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, setting up sterile fields, and ensuring all instruments are properly arranged
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and anticipating procedural needs
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques throughout all surgical cases
- Count and account for all surgical sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures
- Scrub and gown for surgical cases, including complex orthopedic, general, and urological procedures
- Assist in sterilizing, cleaning, and processing reusable surgical instruments
- Document perioperative activities accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Current Surgical Technologist certification (CST) from NBSTSA or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of recent surgical tech experience in a hospital setting
- Proficiency in sterile processing and infection control protocols
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation for multiple specialties
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
