Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields, instruments, and equipment
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
- Ensure proper sterilization and handling of surgical instruments per OSHA guidelines
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless case flow
- Manage surgical inventory and restock supplies between cases
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Surgical Assistant (CSFA) credential required
- Minimum 1-year experience in acute care surgical setting
- Current BLS certification from AHA or equivalent
- Knowledge of sterile processing standards (AAMI/AST)
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift 50+ lbs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
- Proficiency in electronic documentation systems (EPIC preferred)
