Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields and equipment
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after surgery
- Operate sterilization equipment and monitor autoclave cycles
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and position them safely
- Document surgical procedures accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with RNs and anesthesia teams to ensure efficient OR turnover
- Adhere to OSHA and AORN standards for infection control
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year of recent OR experience preferred
- BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 lbs
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing protocols
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
- Proficiency with EHR systems and surgical documentation
