Responsibilities
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately fill prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring proper dosage and labeling.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage the pharmacy inventory system to prevent shortages.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage and process claims efficiently to minimize wait times.
- Patient Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service, answer patient inquiries regarding medications, and offer basic medication counseling.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA privacy laws, to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Quality Control: Perform regular quality assurance checks and maintain a clean, organized, and sterile pharmacy environment.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Certification: Current and active Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Licensure: Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician license required.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred but not mandatory for immediate hires.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with pharmacy software systems.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks accurately.
