Responsibilities
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, ensuring all dosage calculations are precise.
- Customer Service: Assist patients with prescription questions, process insurance claims efficiently, and maintain a professional, welcoming atmosphere.
- Inventory Control: Monitor medication stock levels, manage expiration dates, and ensure the pharmacy storage area is organized and compliant with safety standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA privacy laws, state pharmacy regulations, and company policies regarding controlled substances.
- Compounding & Preparation: Assist in the compounding of medications and preparation of intravenous (IV) solutions when applicable.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must hold a current, valid Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) issued by the state board of pharmacy.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is preferred, but strong graduates will also be considered.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to multitask while maintaining extreme accuracy in data entry and medication handling.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and insurance providers.
