Responsibilities
- Process Prescription Orders: Accurately receive, prepare, and dispense prescription medications according to state and federal regulations.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and maintain accurate inventory records to ensure product availability.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare providers to answer questions, resolve concerns, and provide medication counseling where appropriate.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and pharmacy policies regarding patient confidentiality and safety.
- Quality Assurance: Perform routine checks on medication accuracy and packaging integrity before dispensing.
- Insurance Verification: Assist in verifying patient insurance coverage and processing transactions at the point of sale.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred or ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is a plus.
- Licensure: Active Louisiana Pharmacy Technician license required.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and ability to perform repetitive tasks with high precision.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and staff.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy management software (e.g., Rx30, McKesson) is highly desirable.
