Responsibilities
- Prepare and package prescription medications following strict protocols and safety guidelines.
- Verify the accuracy of prescriptions, including dosage, drug interactions, and allergies.
- Manage inventory levels, including receiving, stocking, and ordering pharmaceutical supplies.
- Assist pharmacists with compounding medications and processing insurance claims.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions regarding medications and providing medication counseling where appropriate.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pharmacy workspace to comply with health regulations.
- Handle confidential patient information with strict adherence to HIPAA compliance.
Qualifications
- Current and active Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred but not always required for the right candidates.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Knowledge of pharmacy software systems and computer literacy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
