Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws with the highest level of precision and patient comfort.
- Accurately label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory according to strict protocols.
- Greet patients warmly, verify their identities, and explain the phlebotomy process to reduce anxiety.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to all OSHA and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and lab technicians to ensure seamless patient flow.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and restock drawers as needed to ensure operational efficiency.
- Document patient interactions and collection results accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred; new graduates with strong externships are encouraged to apply.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as required by the job.
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation for potential mobile duties.
