Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures on patients of all ages with precision and care.
- Verify patient identity and medical information prior to sample collection to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized phlebotomy workstation at all times.
- Assist patients during the blood draw process to ensure comfort and minimize anxiety.
- Label, log, and transport specimens to the laboratory accurately and efficiently.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including OSHA guidelines and HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to facilitate timely test results.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to use EMR/EHR systems.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for travel between locations.
