Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws with precision and patient comfort in mind.
- Verify patient identities and accurately label specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain strict adherence to OSHA safety and infection control protocols.
- Prepare and package blood samples for transport to the central lab.
- Ensure all equipment is sanitized and functioning correctly.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety during procedures.
- Update patient medical records and chart documentation.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Active California State Phlebotomy License.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
