Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and specialized blood draws across diverse patient demographics
- Process and label specimens with meticulous attention to HIPAA compliance protocols
- Operate automated lab equipment and maintain quality control documentation
- Provide compassionate patient care during high-volume collection scenarios
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure seamless specimen transport and handling
- Implement infection control procedures and maintain sterile work environments
- Train new staff on phlebotomy best practices and safety standards
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASPT, NCCT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years' clinical experience in fast-paced healthcare settings
- Proven expertise in pediatric, geriatric, and difficult-vein access techniques
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Familiarity with LIS systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and electronic documentation
- Exceptional communication skills with multilingual populations preferred
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
- Valid Texas driver's license for mobile collection services
