Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision and patient comfort
- Process, label, and transport specimens while maintaining chain-of-custody protocols
- Verify patient identity and prepare equipment according to clinical standards
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records systems
- Provide patient education on collection procedures and post-care instructions
- Maintain sterile environments and adhere to OSHA safety guidelines
- Collaborate with lab teams to ensure timely specimen processing
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital or lab setting
- BLS/CPR certification from recognized provider
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Excellent venipuncture skills with pediatric and geriatric populations
- Strong communication skills and ability to reduce patient anxiety
- Detail-oriented with specimen handling and documentation expertise
