Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen processing with 100% accuracy
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA compliance and infection control protocols
- Operate automated blood collection systems and point-of-care testing equipment
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation procedures
- Manage specimen labeling, transport, and inventory with meticulous documentation
- Collaborate with laboratory staff for quality assurance initiatives
- Support emergency blood draws in critical care units
Qualifications
- Current Texas Phlebotomy Technician certification (PTC) or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in acute care setting
- BLS/CPR certification with ability to maintain certification
- Proficiency in blood culture collection and pediatric techniques
- Exceptional communication skills for diverse patient populations
- Experience with LIS systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
