Responsibilities
- Perform high-volume venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, infection control standards, and OSHA regulations.
- Verify patient identities and accurately label, process, and log specimens to prevent errors.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety and explain procedures clearly.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the phlebotomy station and medical equipment.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and physicians to ensure timely test results and patient care.
- Assist with inventory management of blood collection supplies and forms.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy Specialist certification (CPT-I) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to de-escalate patient concerns.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to various satellite locations within DC.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
