Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, including infants and geriatrics.
- Verify patient identity strictly according to protocols and obtain necessary consents before drawing blood.
- Maintain a sterile and organized phlebotomy station; properly clean and sterilize equipment after every use.
- Label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory for analysis promptly and accurately.
- Document patient vitals and medical history accurately into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Manage patient flow in the clinic to minimize wait times and ensure a comfortable experience.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations, OSHA safety standards, and infection control procedures.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or state license is required.
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical phlebotomy experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to calm anxious patients.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs when necessary.
- CPR and BLS certification is highly preferred.
