Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Verify patient identity and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis following strict protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and specimen documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Operate and maintain phlebotomy equipment including vacutainers, needles, and centrifuges
- Provide patient education regarding procedures and address concerns with empathy
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure timely specimen processing
- Adhere to infection control and safety standards at all times
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital or lab setting
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and specimen handling
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations
- Basic computer proficiency for electronic health records documentation
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Valid Indiana driver's license and reliable transportation
- Background check and drug screen required
