Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws across diverse patient demographics
- Process and label specimens with 100% accuracy for laboratory testing
- Maintain sterile techniques and OSHA compliance during all procedures
- Verify patient identity and prepare samples for transport to testing facilities
- Document collection data in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Collaborate with nursing staff to optimize patient flow and comfort
- Calibrate equipment and maintain phlebotomy station inventory
Qualifications
- Active Pennsylvania Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in acute care setting
- Valid BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Proficiency with EHR systems (Epic preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced emergency department environment
- Exceptional communication skills for patient education and rapport building
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
