Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with a high degree of accuracy and minimal patient discomfort.
- Verify patient identity using two identifiers and properly label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory in compliance with CLIA and HIPAA regulations.
- Demonstrate excellent bedside manner by explaining procedures clearly to patients and calming their anxiety during blood draws.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and sterile field protocols to ensure patient safety and specimen integrity.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and maintain a clean, organized work area in the clinic and mobile phlebotomy units.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure accurate patient charting and timely delivery of results.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Phlebotomy Certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent) required.
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be current and up-to-date.
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred; new graduates with strong externship records will be considered.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination for precise needle insertion.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as necessary.
