Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label blood samples to ensure chain of custody integrity.
- Maintain strict adherence to OSHA safety protocols and sterile field procedures.
- Comfort and reassure anxious patients throughout the collection process.
- Prepare, transport, and log specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Assist with the inventory and ordering of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and lab staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required by state regulations.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting is strongly preferred.
- Excellent manual dexterity and high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly with diverse patient populations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
