Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws with precision and patient comfort in mind.
- Verify patient identities and ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately before testing.
- Handle and process specimens according to laboratory standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain and sterilize phlebotomy equipment to ensure safety and compliance.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety and explain procedures clearly.
- Collaborate with nurses and lab technicians to ensure seamless patient care workflows.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures at all times.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or ASCP certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and anatomy.
- Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Reliable transportation and ability to pass a background check.
