Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures with high accuracy and minimal patient discomfort.
- Properly label, process, and store blood samples and specimens according to strict laboratory protocols.
- Verify patient identities and accurately enter patient information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and functional.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and alleviate anxiety.
- Assist with other clinical duties as needed, including point-of-care testing and specimen transport.
Qualifications
- Current Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT, PBT, ASPT) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation (for on-site requirements).
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Ability to lift and maneuver patients and equipment as required.
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
