Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical procedures using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS systems
- Submit electronic claims to insurance payers and government programs
- Resolve claim denials through appeals and re-submission processes
- Conduct patient billing inquiries and payment arrangements
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and Alaska state regulations
- Generate monthly reports on billing performance metrics
- Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation discrepancies
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC credential required
- Proficiency in Epic, Athenahealth, or NextGen billing systems
- Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance policies
- Exceptional attention to detail with 98% accuracy in coding
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills for patient/provider interactions
