As a Remote Triage Nurse, you will be the first point of contact for patients seeking medical guidance. You will use your clinical expertise to assess symptoms, prioritize care needs, and ensure our patients receive the right support at the right time.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Patient Assessments: Evaluate symptoms via phone and secure messaging platforms to determine appropriate level of care and triage.
- Medical Decision Making: Apply clinical protocols and evidence-based guidelines to recommend treatment plans, home remedies, or emergency interventions.
- Documentation: Accurately and thoroughly document all patient interactions, assessments, and care recommendations in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Provider Collaboration: Communicate urgent cases directly to on-call physicians and nurse practitioners.
- Health Education: Provide patients with clear, empathetic instructions regarding medication, lifestyle, and preventative care.
- Process Improvement: Identify trends in patient queries and suggest improvements to our triage protocols.
Qualifications
- Active RN License: Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in New York (or compact state) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience, preferably in an urgent care, telehealth, or triage setting.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications are mandatory.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on empathy and clarity.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using computer systems, EMR/EHR software, and remote communication tools.
- Self-Directed: Ability to work independently with high accuracy and attention to detail.
