Responsibilities
- Accurately process and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Conduct thorough follow-up on denied or unpaid claims to maximize reimbursement
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer-specific regulations
- Perform complex coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) for various medical specialties
- Generate monthly reports on billing metrics and revenue cycle performance
- Train junior billing staff on best practices and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve billing discrepancies
Qualifications
- 5+ years of medical billing experience in a clinical or hospital setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Advanced knowledge of medical coding and billing regulations
- Proficiency in Epic, eCW, or similar EMR systems
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Proven track record of reducing claim denials by 20%+
- Excellent communication skills for payer negotiations
- Bachelor's degree in Health Administration or related field preferred
