Responsibilities
- Process and submit complex medical claims to insurance payers with 95%+ accuracy
- Conduct thorough account analysis and resolution of claim denials/rejections
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and California state billing regulations
- Collaborate with clinical teams to document services accurately for optimal reimbursement
- Generate monthly financial reports and performance metrics for leadership
- Train junior billers on coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
- Implement process improvements to reduce A/R days below 35
Qualifications
- 5+ years of medical billing experience in multi-specialty clinics
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Expert knowledge of EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or NextGen)
- Proven success with complex insurance contracts (Blue Cross, UnitedHealth, Aetna)
- Advanced proficiency in denial analysis and appeals processes
- Ability to manage high-volume accounts with competing deadlines
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail-oriented documentation
- Experience with RCM tools like Waystar or Change Healthcare
