Responsibilities
- Medication Preparation: Accurately prepare and package prescription medications according to physician orders and safety protocols.
- Order Verification: Review and verify prescription orders for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness before dispensing.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage incoming shipments, and perform periodic inventory counts to ensure product availability.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with patients and healthcare providers to answer questions and resolve issues regarding medications.
- Compliance Support: Assist in maintaining strict adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prescriptions, patient profiles, and controlled substance logs.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current PTCE or ExCPT certification required.
- Licensure: Valid Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician license required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Pharmacy Technology preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and medication interactions; excellent attention to detail.
- Soft Skills: Effective communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
