Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and microcollection procedures with minimal discomfort
- Process and transport specimens while maintaining chain of custody protocols
- Verify patient identity and ensure accurate labeling of all specimens
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and CLIA compliance standards
- Train junior phlebotomists on best practices and new protocols
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) credential
- Minimum 2 years of clinical phlebotomy experience
- Proven ability to work efficiently in high-volume settings
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Experience with LIS systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Valid CPR certification
