Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Accurately review, code, and submit medical claims to insurance payers (commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid) to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Denial Management: Monitor claim status, identify root causes of denials, and appeal rejected claims to maximize revenue recovery.
- Patient Billing: Generate and send patient statements, collect co-pays, and resolve billing inquiries with a high level of customer service.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services to prevent claim denials.
- Data Entry & Reporting: Maintain accurate records in the EMR system and generate monthly financial reports for management review.
- Compliance: Adhere to HIPAA regulations and internal coding compliance standards at all times.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing or a related revenue cycle role.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing, Coding, or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
- Certifications: CPC, COC, or RHIT certification is a strong plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth) and medical billing software (AdvancedMD, Kareo, etc.).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and insurance companies.
