Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring sterility and equipment functionality
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques throughout procedures
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after surgery to prevent retention
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and position them for optimal access
- Operate sterilization equipment and maintain inventory of surgical supplies
- Document procedures and equipment usage per hospital protocols
Qualifications
- Accredited Surgical Technology program graduate (CST preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in Level 1 trauma center
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and HIPAA compliance
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure emergency situations
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Valid NJ state license and BLS/CPR certification
