Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms by arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies, and ensuring proper functioning of equipment.
  • Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile supplies.
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain a sterile field and ensure nothing is left in the surgical wound.
  • Maintain a sterile environment and adhere strictly to aseptic technique and safety protocols.
  • Transport patients to and from the operating suite, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Handle and prepare tissue specimens for laboratory analysis accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with the surgical team to anticipate the needs of the surgeon.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (CST).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of clinical experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks as required.
