Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies.
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile equipment and ensuring a safe environment.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent infections and cross-contamination.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after surgery to ensure nothing is left in the patient.
- Monitor the patient's vital signs and respond to any changes in condition.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room and ensure proper post-operative care preparation.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent required.
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or outpatient surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, terminology, and instrument handling.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients as needed.
