Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging instruments, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, holding retractors, and maintaining sterile fields
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure completeness
- Monitor patient vital signs and document intraoperative events accurately
- Transport patients to and from surgical suites while adhering to safety protocols
- Maintain inventory of surgical supplies and communicate restocking needs to central processing
- Adhere to OSHA standards and hospital infection control policies
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in general surgery specialty
- Graduation from accredited surgical technology program
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile processing techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
