Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments according to procedure-specific requirements
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies efficiently
- Maintain sterile environments and adhere to strict aseptic techniques
- Count and account for all surgical sponges, needles, and instruments
- Operate sterilization equipment and maintain instrument inventory
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient care
- Document perioperative activities accurately and maintain electronic records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent surgical tech experience in general surgery
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and instrumentation
- BLS/CPR certification from AHA or equivalent
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
