Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready.
- Maintain a sterile field during surgery and pass instruments and supplies to surgeons with precision.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and act as a liaison between the sterile and non-sterile fields.
- Monitor patient vitals and report any abnormalities to the nursing staff or surgeon immediately.
- Assist in draping, positioning, and prepping patients for surgery.
- Handle and transport surgical specimens accurately to the pathology lab.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the operating room suite after procedures.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certification eligible.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certifications required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and medical terminology.
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Compliance with all health and safety regulations.
