Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sterile materials.
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques and infection control protocols.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure safety.
- Monitor patient vitals and respond to changes in the surgical patient's condition.
- Handle specimens for analysis and transport to the lab.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) required.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent operating room experience preferred.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and terminology.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
- High school diploma or GED required.
