Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical instruments according to protocol
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques
- Count and account for all surgical items before, during, and after procedures
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced surgical equipment (e.g., endoscopic cameras, robotic systems)
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless patient care
- Document procedural events accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in general surgery
- Knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization validation
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems (EPIC preferred)
- Ability to maintain composure during emergency procedures
- Strong understanding of surgical anatomy and instrumentation
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and stand for extended periods
