Responsibilities
- Prepare the Operating Room: Set up surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment before procedures to ensure a sterile environment.
- Assist Surgeons: Pass instruments and materials to surgeons and surgical assistants, holding retractors and sutures as directed.
- Maintain Sterility: Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures to prevent infection.
- Patient Care: Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning, shaving, and skin prepping.
- Documentation: Accurately record medical data and instrument counts as required by facility protocols.
- Equipment Management: Handle and sterilize reusable surgical instruments and equipment using approved sterilization methods.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technology program is required.
- Licensure: Current state licensure or registration (where applicable) in Wisconsin.
- Basic Life Support: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are mandatory.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow complex instructions.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy equipment, and work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical center setting is preferred.
