Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and equipment according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control standards throughout surgical cases
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure completeness
- Transport patients to and from operating rooms and position them appropriately for surgery
- Clean and sterilize equipment, instruments, and surgical suites following case completion
- Document procedures accurately using electronic health record systems
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program (CST or equivalent)
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience preferred
- Knowledge of sterile processing and aseptic techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced surgical environments
- Strong understanding of surgical terminology and instrumentation
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
