Responsibilities
- Preparation: Prepare operating rooms for surgery by arranging sterile equipment and supplies.
- Assistance: Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and other surgical personnel during operations.
- Sterility: Maintain a sterile field and monitor the environment to prevent breaches in aseptic technique.
- Specimen Handling: Prepare and transport specimens to the pathology department for analysis.
- Patient Care: Position patients on the operating table, drape them, and create surgical incisions as directed by surgeons.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient information and surgical procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Experience: 1-2 years of recent surgical experience preferred; new graduates with clinical rotation experience will be considered.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, procedures, and medical terminology.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift and move patients or equipment as necessary.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
