Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive initial patient assessments to determine the urgency and nature of medical conditions.
- Utilize advanced triage protocols to prioritize patient care and facilitate rapid access to the appropriate level of medical services.
- Document all patient encounters, symptoms, and triage decisions accurately and promptly in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff to develop and refine patient care plans.
- Provide clear, empathetic health education and instruction to patients and their families regarding self-care and follow-up.
- Manage incoming communications via phone and triage software, ensuring high call resolution rates and patient satisfaction.
- Maintain strict adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and HIPAA compliance guidelines.
Qualifications
- Valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a clinical triage or emergency department setting.
- Strong proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, such as Epic or Cerner.
- Exceptional critical thinking skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure in high-volume environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends as required.
