Responsibilities
- Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates.
- Mobility Assistance: Help patients move safely in and out of beds, wheelchairs, or bathtubs using proper body mechanics and transfer techniques.
- Hygiene Management: Ensure patients remain clean, comfortable, and dry throughout the shift, including assisting with feeding if necessary.
- Communication: Act as a vital link between patients and the nursing staff, reporting any changes in condition or concerns immediately.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility standards.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to call lights and assist in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff.
Qualifications
- Certification: Valid and current New York State CNA license (NYS Certified Nurse Aide) required.
- Experience: Prior experience in a long-term care or hospital setting is preferred but we welcome enthusiastic new graduates.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and lift patients frequently (up to 50 lbs) throughout the shift.
- CPR Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is strongly preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Compassion: A genuine passion for helping the elderly and sick with a patient-centered approach.
- Availability: Must be available to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
