Responsibilities
- Perform accurate patient intake and vital sign measurements (BP, temperature, pulse, respirations).
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain a clean clinical environment.
- Administer medications and injections under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner.
- Draw blood samples using proper venipuncture techniques and maintain a safe phlebotomy area.
- Manage patient records, update Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, and handle insurance verification.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and answer healthcare-related questions.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification as a CMA, RMA, or MA (American Heart Association BLS required).
- Current California State Medical Assistant license.
- Previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not mandatory for the right candidate.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to handle physical demands, including standing for long periods and lifting patients if necessary.
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards.
