Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Measure and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and report abnormalities to the provider.
- Administrative Support: Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, update electronic health records (EHR), and schedule appointments efficiently.
- Laboratory Duties: Collect and process laboratory specimens, prepare samples for testing, and perform basic point-of-care testing.
- Medication Management: Prepare medications for administration under the supervision of a licensed nurse or provider and assist with medication administration.
- Provider Assistance: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and procedures.
- Health Education: Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and preventative care.
- Infection Control: Adhere to strict hygiene and sterilization protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must hold a current Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) certification.
- Licensure: Valid state license to practice as a Medical Assistant is required.
- BLS Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Experience: Previous experience in a clinical or ambulatory care setting is preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a patient-centric approach.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
